Fishing in Gorski Kotar Click to see Reports and picture gallery Basswood Sporting Agency has made special arrangements with the Croatian Club, "Goran" to offer fly fishing to British guests.  The Club has been in existence for over 80 years, so it predates the former communist republic of Yugoslavia. The venue is the river Kupa and its tributories in the Gorski Kotar region.  The principal quarry are the native Golden Grayling and the Brown Trout.  Although Grayling is abundant, and supreme specimens may be caught, the club has had a 'catch and release' program on Grayling for the last two seasons.  Two specimens (per day) of Brown Trout over 30cm, caught in the Kupa, may be kept. We can cater for groups of up to 15 but 8-10 is the norm. We use local pool guides and have the services of a local expert to tie flies/nymphs specifically for the Kupa in the particular season.
