Apart from fishing some small streams in Devon, fishing the Kupa and the Kupica was my first experience of fly fishing decent sized running waters.  So it was with some trepidation that I set out on that first day.  I needn’t have worried though as under the watchful eye of the local guide, and using flies tied specifically for that water, all three members of our group were soon into their first fish.

The location could not have been better, the proximity of the local water to the Hotel meant we could wander to and from the rivers at will. 
The scenery of these two waters and the Risnjak National Park combined with the abundance of free rising fish made the whole experience unforgettable.

All three members of my group, plus those who were unable to make it this time, will be returning to fish with you again next year – once again, thank you for great trip.

Well! I have found such a river
The Kupa and its tributary the Kupica are the jewels in the Croatian crown.
Armed with five weight rods, 3lb tippits and flies tied by our guide Mladen Goranin, we fished over 4 days, miles of beautiful river. The quality of the grayling and trout  caught was superb.
In all a wonderful experience and one that I shall certainly repeat

Fishing the Kupa was a great experience and I must say that as a guy with no running water experience I was a bit apprehensive.  I an glad that with the help of Mladen, the guide, I managed to hold my end up.  Catching wild fish in a perfect setting was a real thrill, and I am going again.  Every day was a new venue and a different challenge.  The scenery in the Risnjak park was superb - and it was also my best day with the grayling. 

I never imagined that would be housed in such a fine hotel, and then on top of that to be served outstanding quality food.  The whole package proved to be great vale for money and I know that Russell, Kevin and Steve are planning to join you again in September next year.
