The Bag
4 groups of guns, 47 in total shot 60 boar (and a dog by me with the van) Whilst there were no medal class animals there we no piglets either (all desirable eating size). The best male fell to Andrew from Essex Picture shown and the most pigs shot, was retained by the Gloucester team. We celebrated Gordon on his 6th Anniversary.

The Weather
Sadly the first group got 20+o C weather and was by far the poorest shoot. After that it got seasonal, 1 –2 o C at night and +4-8 o C daytime. Then we got snow and it became colder and colder. I had a New Year invitation and it was – 19 oC
NB For 2011 we are starting a week later with the 1st group out Nov 17th

The Venues
Both the Josavac doo in Slatina and the Hotel Park in Nasice lived up to full expectations and we are using both Locations for 2011. According to most guests the food, rooms and location was better. We had plenty of hot water and no one complained about towels. We have phones TV and wireless internet for 2011 at both locations.

EDDY’s Report on 2010 (he went with the 1st and last group last year)

December 2nd - 6th Croatia. Eleven Guns. Slatina Area.

"The weather was dry and very cold, snow was forecast but did not show.
The sequence of ground being used for this trip was, one mountainous, one flat/flooded and another mountainous.

At the end of the first day we had five dead on the ground but lots were seen and shot at, but in most cases the guns were a little over ambitious. Groups of between ten and twenty were seen but did not come close enough to be shot. Two more were collected the next day.

The next day, flat/flooded was very similar with regards Boar seen, but the arcs of fire were quite acute and great care was needed, as a result a lot of shots were not taken.  We were given arcs of fire and the pigs just appeared from nowhere but not always where we wanted them !! I had five come by me, but behind and in front of the vehicles, so very annoying.  The total on the ground for the day was seven with another two collected the next day.

The last day was a return to the mountains and we were joined by the members of the club making the total number of guns around twenty five !!!  As a result of the numbers of guns, there was a lot of mountainous walking, which did not go down very well but proved fruitful for some.  One gun in particular, had never seen a wild Boar let alone shot one before, shot four good ones.  The total on the ground at the end of the day was nine, but again, they expected to collect at least another two the following day.  The weather made a difference and probably because the crops/corn having been harvested, the pigs were sheltering in the scrub/bush/woodland rather than being spread across half of Croatia.

The accomodation and food was excellent, the hospitality was, as usual, very welcoming and friendly.
The group got on well together and two of them that were new to this sort of adventure, were in the 'right spot at the right time' and enjoyed an experience of a lifetime.
All members of the group intimated their intention to return next year."
