The final result for BSA guests from 5 estates for the season was 93 boar shot.

This number is up on last year but down on expectations. However, considering the abysmal result for the first group in 23/24°C weather, and the disappointed group 2, the remaining shoots picked up considerably. We had extreme weather variance from sunny and hot with much leaf to very cold with lots of snow and ice.  In fact for 17 days we were unable to cross Papuk since the road was only cleaned from the Drenovac village to the lodge

November highlights were:

  • Peter from London shot 6 pigs in 2 days with my 30/06 double
  • Steve shot 2 boar with one shot (with a tree in between them)
  • Norman from Lincs shot the first ever gold medal boar taken on a BSA  shoot
  • The Zagreb  Police set a new record in processing 13 hunters in 58 minutes
  • 28 initiation ceremonies took place, in 2 cases the godfather got carried away
  • We had our first non British group consisting of Irish and Swedish guests (all previous drinking records were beaten, all the house Rakija was consumed)

2009 will prove a challenge for us all, with the poor £/€ exchange rate and general economic gloom.

We at Basswood are planning for only 4 groups of 15/17 guests for 2009, starting November 12th.

We have two and a half groups provisionally booked at this time and are now taking  bookings for the November 12th and December 3rd groups.

Every effort is made to minimise costs.  We have fixed a price for 2009 with Croatia Airlines and are negotiating our rates with the Jankovac Lodge, a venue that has proved as popular as ever.  By popular demand, BSA plans to supplement the beverage and starters at the lodge, as we did last year.
We hope that the exchange rates improve in Sterling’s favour

.
The all inclusive package price for 2009 is €1595
